Exhibitions    Drawing as Site -Paris and Giverny - Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery

26.10.14 to 15.11.14

26 September to 15 November 2014

studio work as part of UNSW Cite  Research residency 2014

Traditionally drawing has provided an open ended investigation for the evolution of ideas and provides a'site'for the history and 'setting'of the indexical mark. The untouched area of the bare ground of the paper opens up potential readings of space and interpretation of practice. The drawings are structured through a set of formal correspondences and propositions drawing from a study of Claude Monet's sketchbooks at the Musee Marmottan in Paris, the Nympheas paintings in the Musee Orangerie, Paris and on site at Monet's garden in Giverny. They explore the relationship between the ambiguous zone between landscape and abstraction.
